View work results on the right while you keep talking

Put tables, documents, and images on the right of the conversation so you can keep talking on the left. Menus and the conversation list make room; you can pin the list.

In user language: for people who need to look at a table, document, presentation, image, or report in conversation. After the assistant hands over a file, the full preview can sit to the right of the conversation; in the bubble you keep talking, downloading, or going fullscreen. The feature menu and conversation list make room automatically; you can also pin the conversation list so it does not collapse.

The takeaway (read this first)

Once a deliverable file appears in conversation, the usual awkwardness is: the preview stretches the bubble area and the sentence you were halfway through is pushed down; or the preview is squeezed into the bubble, and tables and documents are hard to read.

Cadau’s approach is to split “what you are saying” from “results already handed over”:

  • The full preview can sit in Work results on the right of the conversation;
  • The bubble still keeps the file name, download, and fullscreen — the entry is not lost;
  • When there is a result, the feature menu and conversation list collapse automatically, giving width to conversation and preview;
  • Several files can be paged; the default is the latest one.

In one sentence: look at the file on the right, keep talking on the left.

Who this is for, and what it solves

The typical need is not “another file viewer”, but:

  • The assistant just wrote a table or document, and you want to keep changing the request against the original;
  • The same round handed over several results; you want to flip one by one without the composer being squeezed away;
  • On a wide screen you want preview and conversation side by side; on a narrow screen the preview stacks from the right, and the composer stays.

For people writing materials: keep saying “change the second column to…” on the left, looking at the table just generated on the right. For people who only occasionally look at files: the default can still follow Account → Preferences; you do not have to learn a new layout first.

How it differs from “expand only in the bubble”

What you run intoPreview only in the bubbleView on the right
Keep talking against the fileOnce the preview expands, the composer is pushed downPreview on the right; the composer stays under the conversation
A very long table or documentNested in the bubble; scrolling and talking fight for the same stripPreview has its own block; you can drag to change width
Several files in one roundFlip between bubblesPrevious / next in Work results, or tap a file name to jump
You still need the conversation listPreview and list both take width; both feel squeezedMakes room by default; the conversation list can be pinned so it does not auto-collapse

The three in-bubble ways are still there: show preview, collapsed by default, no embed. View on the right is a fourth location; it does not retire the first three.

What you will see in the UI

  1. Default follows preferences. Open Account → Preferences → In-chat file preview, and pick show preview, collapsed by default, no embed, or View on the right.
  2. The switch appears only when there are files. If this conversation has no files yet, the composer does not show a preview-location icon, so an empty conversation does not get a button you cannot use.
  3. One tap changes location. After there are files, a preview location icon appears in the composer. Tap to switch between bubble and right, and write it back to preferences. Switching back to bubble keeps the in-bubble mode you last chose.
  4. Bubble buttons follow the layout. In view-on-the-right, bubble buttons switch between “show on the right” and “collapse”; file name, download, and fullscreen stay.
  5. Makes room automatically. When Work results opens, the feature menu and conversation list collapse first. You can still hover or click to open them; you can also collapse Work results and open it again when needed.
  6. The conversation list can be pinned. After you pin it, opening or collapsing Work results no longer auto-toggles that list; only the open/closed state you set yourself is kept.
  7. Page through several results. Previous / next cycles through them; you can also tap a file name to jump; the default is the latest one.
  8. Width and narrow screens. You can drag between conversation and results; this machine remembers. On a narrow screen, results stack over the conversation from the right and do not squeeze the composer away.

In-page preview after you select a file in the asset library uses the same viewer as conversation work results: tables, documents, presentations, PDF, images, and Markdown can all be viewed, including fullscreen.

How to open it

Colleagues who do not write code can follow the steps below.

1. Set the default location first

Go to Account → Preferences → In-chat file preview, and pick View on the right. That is the default for new conversations; in a single conversation you can still change it temporarily with the composer icon.

2. Let this round have a file first

Tell a work agent “make a table”, “write a document”, “make a slide”, or upload an attachment yourself. After the file appears, the preview-location icon shows in the composer.

3. Change it while looking

Look at the result on the right; keep saying what to change on the left. With several files, use previous / next, or tap a file name. If you often need the conversation list alongside, pin the list.

When you ask “how do I put the preview on the right”, the help assistant explains; a do-it-for-me request such as “switch me to view on the right” is handled as conversation-as-action.

When you need not use the right

  • You only need a small image, and the next file is enough — expanding in the bubble is often simpler.
  • Looking at conversation on a phone — mobile still leans on bubbles and fullscreen; the right split is a wide-screen Web approach.
  • Small talk with no files yet — the UI deliberately does not show a preview-location icon.

Have a result you need to look at first, then open the right; with no result, the conversation area should stay clean.
